The Short Version of Pixel 11 and Android 17
Google does not officially announce the next Pixel at I/O. The keynote in May focused on software, AI and the smart glasses partnership with Samsung. But leaks, beta code in Android developer previews, and reporting from outlets like Tom’s Guide and PhoneArena have confirmed the broad strokes.
Pixel 11 lands in August 2026. The Pro Fold variant comes in October. Android 17 ships first, in June or July, on Pixel devices. The new phone is built around a 2 nanometre Tensor G6 chip which should be the biggest performance jump Google has shipped in any Pixel. Gemini 3.5 is built into the system layer rather than living in a separate app. Pixel Glow is a new RGB notification light strip confirmed in Android 17 Beta 4 code.
Pixel 11 Launch Timeline
Google has launched Pixels in August for two years running. Pixel 9 in August 2024, Pixel 10 on 28 August 2025, and based on the pattern, Pixel 11 lands between 17 and 25 August 2026. Devices go on sale in mid September. The Pixel Case has a running tracker of confirmed and leaked dates.

Pixel 11 lands in India simultaneously with the global launch in August 2026, continuing the recent pattern. Google Store India is the primary channel, with Flipkart and Reliance Digital as confirmed retail partners.
Pixel 11 Tensor G6: The Chip Inside
The Tensor G6 is the biggest hardware story of Pixel 11. Built on a 2 nanometre process node, it should deliver the largest performance and efficiency jump Google has ever shipped in a Pixel. Tensor G5 was built on 3 nanometres. The move to 2nm is significant.
Better battery life
The 2nm process node uses less power than 3nm for the same workload. Combined with rumoured larger battery capacities in Pixel 11 Pro models, all day battery life should genuinely improve over Pixel 10.
Faster on device AI
The Tensor chip has always been designed around AI workloads. G6 takes that further. On device Gemini Nano processing should be noticeably faster. Features like real time translation, voice recording transcription, and photo enhancement happen on the device without needing the cloud.
Less thermal throttling
Past Tensor chips were known for getting hot under heavy load, throttling performance after a few minutes of gaming or video processing. The 2nm node should produce less heat for the same workload.
5G modem upgrades
Reporting from The Verge and 9to5Google suggests Pixel 11 finally moves to a modern in house 5G modem. Previous Pixels licensed older Samsung Exynos modems which were known for indifferent 5G performance.
Pixel 11 Pixel Glow: The New Notification Light Strip
The most surprising leaked Pixel 11 feature is Pixel Glow, an RGB notification light strip that was discovered in Android 17 Beta 4 code. It is a strip of LEDs around the camera bar that lights up in different colours based on what is happening.
Different colours for different app notifications. Pulsing red for incoming calls. Slow breathing white for charging. Multi colour pattern when Gemini Live is listening. The concept is similar to what Nothing Phone does with its Glyph interface, but built into the back of a flagship Pixel rather than a quirky design statement.
Whether Pixel Glow ships in the final Pixel 11 or gets pushed to Pixel 12 is not yet confirmed. The fact that it exists in beta code suggests Google is at least testing it seriously.

Android 17 brings several real changes that Pixel 11 will showcase first. Android developer previews have shown most of these working.
Gemini 3.5 as the system AI
Android 17 wires Gemini 3.5 into the system layer. Voice assistant, accessibility, system search, Now Playing all run on Gemini 3.5. Significant upgrade from the older AI tooling on Android 16.
Better Material You theming
Material You, the dynamic theming system Google introduced in Android 12, gets refined controls in Android 17. More granular palette control, better contrast options, improved accessibility for users with vision needs.
Live Translate everywhere
The real time translation that Google demoed for the smart glasses also runs in Android 17 on any phone. Phone calls, messages, in person conversations get translated in real time without opening Translate as a separate app.
Improved privacy dashboard
Android 17’s privacy dashboard shows you exactly which apps accessed your data, when, and for how long. Includes new controls for Gemini and AI features. Users in the European Union get additional controls under the AI Act.
Faster app startup
Google rewrote the app startup path in Android 17. Apps that took 2 to 3 seconds to load on Android 16 will start in under a second on Pixel 11. Visible improvement on launch animations across the system.
Smart glasses pairing

Expected around $1,199 in the US, €1,249 in Europe, ₹129,999 in India. Larger display, larger battery. Same Pro camera system. For users who genuinely use the big phone format.

Wait for Pixel 11 if you use AI heavily
If you actually use Gemini, Spark and the on device AI features, the Tensor G6 will make a real difference. Pixel 10 works fine for these but the gap is going to widen as Google ships more AI features that target the new chip.
Buy Pixel 10 now if budget matters
Pixel 10 will drop significantly in price in August when Pixel 11 launches. If you buy Pixel 10 now you get 90 percent of the Pixel 11 capability at 60 to 70 percent of the price by late 2026.
Wait if you care about battery
The 2nm Tensor G6 is the biggest single battery life improvement in Google’s pipeline. If you have been frustrated with Pixel 9 or 10 battery, Pixel 11 will be the bigger jump than any incremental software update.
Either way if you want a foldable
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold and Pixel 10 Pro Fold both got positive reviews. The Pixel 11 Pro Fold lands in October, so if you want a foldable Pixel and can wait until end of 2026, that is the version to get. If you want it sooner, Pixel 10 Pro Fold is still excellent.
